There are several departure/arrival harbors in Bali. The duration of the trip depends on the harbor location.

Padangbai Harbor

This is the most popular harbor to connect Bali and Lombok (including Gilis Island). Most fast boats depart/arrive via this harbor. The fast boat trip between Padangbai harbor to Lombok / Gilis Island is about 1 hour and 30 minutes (could be less or more than that, depending on wave conditions). Unfortunately, Padangbai harbor is pretty far from the main tourist areas in Bali (e.g. Sanur, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Ubud, and Kerobokan). The overland trip takes about 45 minutes to more than 1 hour in normal traffic. Padangbai harbor is also the most crowded harbor. The touts are spread in every place. If you want to use a fast boat via this harbor, we suggest you use the provided shuttle service from the fast boat company either for pickup or drop off. The shuttle is free (price is included in ticket fare) for most tourist destinations in Bali. If your destination is out of the free shuttle coverage area, the driver will inform you about the excess cost. If you don’t want to use the free shuttle service, you need to keep our contact numbers so you can reach the proper check-in gate once you arrived at Padangbai harbor.

Sanur Harbor

Departure/arrival via Sanur harbor is popular because its location is much closer to main tourist areas (e.g. Sanur, Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Nusa Dua, Denpasar, Airport) and public transport can be achieved easily. The overland trip takes just minutes to 30 minutes in normal traffic. The sea trip to Lombok / Gilis Island takes much longer than Padangbai harbor, i.e. about 2 hours 30 minutes (could be less or more, depending on wave conditions). The boat may stop in minutes at Nusa Lembongan to pick up / drop off the passengers. Sanur is the departure for a fast boat heading to Nusa Lembongan Island. The sea trip to Nusa Lembongan Island takes about 30 minutes.

Benoa / Serangan Harbor

Benoa and Serangan harbor are in the same region. While Benoa is designated as a formal harbor in the area, Serangan is out of that formal area (likely as a private harbor). These two harbors are less popular than Sanur but have similar advantages (close to the main tourist areas). The sea trip to Lombok / Gilis Island takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes (could be less or more, depending on wave conditions). Some trips may stop in minutes at Padangbai harbor and resulting in longer trip time.

Amed Harbor

Amed harbor is located on the northern side of Bali. Amed is popular for its diving and snorkeling spots. Sea trip via Amed to Lombok / Gilis Island takes less time, i.e. about 1 hour in a normal wave. Note that since Amed is the less popular and furthest harbor, the fast boats will not be operated at low season due to a lack of passengers.
